It was a pretty busy weekend. I'll run through each day.
Friday 8/10
Work went fine. The only problem is that I lost connectivity between the field offices. This was caused by people farther up the network ladder and was corrected late Friday.
When I got home, Teri wanted to can the tomatoes that she had prepared the previous couple of days. We both worked on this and as you can see from the picture, accomplished the task.
Saturday 8/11
Teri is off to California for 6 days for a business conference. I dropped her at the airport at 8:30. I then went to the MVA to get my drivers license renewed, which took about 2 hours. Then I went to Home Depot to buy electrical supplies, and to check the status of renting a trench digging machine. With this completed, I went to the grocery store. Finally to come home. Teri made it to CA safe and sound. I made dinner for Gram and I and walked the dog. All in all, a very productive day.
Sunday 8/12
The summer concert tour continued. Today's show is Def Leppard, Foreigner, and Styx in Hershey, PA. Heather is attending this show with me. We decide to make a full day out of it and go to Hershey Park for the day where we were joined by her friend Carrie and her new boyfriend Chad. All in all, a great time was had by everyone a the park. Then it was time for the show.
Geez-Fest: Part Duex
This show had a strand vibe about it. First off, very small-town America feel. There weren't security guards every 5 feet harrassing people. It was an older crowd, most were in their 40's. I felt like I was one of the younger members.
Before each band came out they played a mix of a bunch of their songs, then the bands came out and did most of those same songs. All of this, just felt weird to me. The other thing that I noticed is that the over dub tracks were messed up a couple of songs. You have to remember, the sounds that you here are not all coming from the stage. These bands play with an off stage dub track, which is suppose to be in sync with what you are watching on stage. It's the nature of the show. The 'purists' will call this fake and a rip-off, but that's how it is in the 21st century.
Styx
They were what I expected. Played the hits, and everyone had a good time.
Foreigner
Again, greatest hits! But this is what I was expecting. For these type of summer shows, this is what is expected. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding.
HOT BLOODED!
Def Leppard
This is the act that we came to see. This time around they mixed the setlist from their setlist that they have done the past few years. Yes, they must do the hits, but they choose a few that you usually don't hear, and the die-hard fans appreciate this. A decent amount from the first couple albums and some deep cuts from Hysteria. There was a large video screen behind the band that added a lot of effects, you can see this from some of the pictures. I enjoyed the show!
